Boosting Magento Performance: Unraveling the Mystery of High CPU Load and the Surprising Role of Search Term Cache

Magento's performance issues, notably the high CPU load due to the search term cache, have been a major concern for users across versions. Investigations revealed the 'DISTINCT' operator within the search_query table was the main problem, slowing down execution time as the table size expanded. While overriding the execute function and adding an index to the table were ineffective in solving the issue, new potential solutions have been found. Removing the 'DISTINCT' operator reduced query time significantly, enhancing keyword search performance by adjusting the search term cache. A batch-wise insertion approach to managing search terms was also suggested to control table growth. These findings offer valuable insights for heightening Magento's performance and improving the eCommerce experience for users.
