This issue does not just affect 2.3.4 but is also found in Magento's 2.4.x and recent 2.4.5-p4 patch, suggesting a deeper systemic problem. The issue intensifies with the dataset size, impacting sites with millions of search terms. The num_results > 0 condition, aimed to exclude irrelevant search queries, has unexpectedly added to the problem due to its heavy processing. Current fixes have not been universally successful, highlighting the need for a situation-specific solution. Possible solutions include removing the DISTINCT operator, asynchronous insertion of search terms, and altering the execute function in Magento_CatalogSearch.
